Important Disclosures
This page describes what Verif_Hire is, what it is not, how its outputs should be interpreted, and the rights available to candidates whose information is verified through the Service. We encourage every user to read this page in full before using Verif_Hire in any employment-related workflow.
What Verif_Hire Is
Verif_Hire is an information verification tool that checks whether the name, phone number, and email address a candidate provided are real, active, and consistent with legitimate contact infrastructure. It performs two discrete data lookups using FCRA-compliant data sources and displays the results to the user for independent review and human decision.
Verif_Hire is a reseller and presenter of third-party verification data. We do not originate, generate, or editorially alter the underlying data. Our role is to package data from FCRA-compliant infrastructure and identity data providers into a format that is useful for recruiting and hiring workflows. All verification data used by Verif_Hire is provided by FCRA-compliant sources.
Informational Outputs Only - Not a Recommendation
Verif_Hire's outputs do not constitute a recommendation, opinion, or judgment about any candidate's character, qualifications, or suitability for employment. The Service does not tell you to hire or not hire anyone. It does not score candidates. It does not rank candidates. It surfaces factual data points about the contact information provided and presents them to you for your own independent review.
The decision to advance, interview, hire, or reject any candidate remains solely and entirely with you and your organization. Verif_Hire expressly disclaims any role in that decision.
Verification of Candidate-Provided Information - Not a Background Check
Verif_Hire is fundamentally different from a background check or a pre-employment screening service. A background check digs into a person's history - criminal records, credit reports, past addresses, court filings - and surfaces new information that the candidate did not provide. Verif_Hire does none of that.
Verif_Hire verifies the information the candidate already gave you. When a candidate submits a phone number, an email address, and a name on their application, Verif_Hire checks whether those specific data points are real, consistent, and associated with legitimate contact infrastructure.
This is the difference between asking "Is this person who they say they are?" and asking "What else can I find out about this person?" Verif_Hire only answers the first question. It is a verification tool, not a screening or investigative service.
Permissible Use
Verif_Hire is designed and licensed exclusively for use in connection with employment verification and hiring due diligence. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You are using Verif_Hire solely for the purpose of verifying candidate-provided contact information in connection with a bona fide employment decision.
- You will not use the Service to verify individuals for purposes unrelated to employment, including tenant screening, credit decisions, insurance underwriting, or personal investigations.
- You will apply the Service uniformly to all candidates for a given role and will not selectively verify candidates on the basis of race, gender, national origin, age, religion, disability, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
- You will not use a Verif_Hire output as the sole or primary basis for any adverse employment action.
- You will comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing employment verification, including providing candidates with appropriate notice and opportunity to respond before taking adverse action based in whole or in part on information obtained through this Service.
Why Verif_Hire Is Not a Consumer Reporting Agency
The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) defines a Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA) as an entity that assembles or evaluates "consumer credit information or other information on consumers" for the purpose of furnishing "consumer reports" to third parties. Verif_Hire does not meet this definition for the following reasons:
We do not assemble or maintain consumer files
When a user submits a phone number, a single real-time API request is made to an FCRA-compliant infrastructure data provider. The response is displayed in the user's browser and immediately discarded. Nothing is written to a database. Nothing is retained. Each verification is a stateless, ephemeral transaction.
We do not evaluate character, reputation, or personal characteristics
Verif_Hire checks narrow, objective facts - name/phone/email and associated digital attributes. These are factual attributes of a phone number and an email address - not attributes of a person. Verif_Hire makes no inference, assessment, or judgment about the individual behind the contact information.
We do not furnish reports for FCRA-enumerated purposes
Verif_Hire's outputs are not designed or intended to serve as a factor in establishing eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, or other enumerated purposes. They are informational data points about contact metadata, presented to the user to supplement their own independent evaluation. Our Terms of Service explicitly prohibit users from treating Verif_Hire outputs as a determining factor in employment decisions.
Our data comes from FCRA-compliant infrastructure sources
Phone and email data is derived from FCRA-compliant infrastructure records. This is metadata, not personal information about the consumer. Verif_Hire resells and presents this data - it does not originate or alter it.
In summary: Verif_Hire performs real-time, stateless lookups of contact-infrastructure metadata using FCRA-compliant data sources. It does not compile consumer files, does not evaluate personal characteristics, does not produce consumer reports, and does not furnish information for FCRA-enumerated purposes. For these reasons, Verif_Hire is not a Consumer Reporting Agency as defined under 15 U.S.C. § 1681a(f).
Verif_Hire Is Not an Automated Decision-Making Tool
Verif_Hire does not use artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive modeling, algorithmic scoring, or any form of automated decision-making. It does not assign scores, rank candidates, weight factors, predict outcomes, or recommend actions. It does not filter, sort, or remove candidates from any pipeline or workflow.
What Verif_Hire does is straightforward: it performs two discrete data lookups and displays the results.
- Phone number verification: The candidate's phone number is sent to an FCRA-compliant infrastructure data provider, which returns metadata attributes associated with the number. Verif_Hire displays this information to the user.
- Email domain verification: The domain portion of the candidate's email address is compared against a list of known high-risk and temporary email providers. If the domain appears on this list, Verif_Hire notes it.
If either lookup returns a result that deviates from what is typical of a standard consumer phone number or a standard personal/professional email address, Verif_Hire surfaces a factual observation and displays "Investigate further." No candidate is automatically rejected, deprioritized, or adversely affected. The tool has no connection to any applicant tracking system, hiring pipeline, or decision workflow. The human user reviews the data, applies their own judgment, and makes their own decision.
Zero Data Retention
Verif_Hire does not store candidate data after a verification completes. When you click "Verify," the extension sends the candidate's phone number to our server for a real-time lookup. The results are rendered locally in your browser. Once the popup closes, the data is gone. There is no database of past verifications. There is no candidate file to access, export, or breach.
In practice: Candidate data is processed in-flight and discarded immediately. No candidate names, phone numbers, email addresses, or verification results are ever written to a database or retained on our servers. The only data Verif_Hire stores is your license key and subscription status.
Candidate Rights
Verif_Hire is committed to transparency and fairness. Although we believe our Service falls outside the scope of the Fair Credit Reporting Act for the reasons described above, we voluntarily extend the following rights to any candidate whose contact information is verified through Verif_Hire:
Right to know
If an employer uses Verif_Hire as part of their hiring process, the candidate has the right to be informed that their contact information was verified. We strongly encourage all users of Verif_Hire to disclose to candidates that a contact-information verification was performed.
Right to see the results
Any candidate may request a copy of the data that was surfaced by Verif_Hire during their verification. Since Verif_Hire does not retain verification data, the candidate should direct this request to the employer who performed the verification. We encourage employers to share the Verif_Hire output with the candidate upon request.
Right to dispute
If a candidate believes that the information surfaced by Verif_Hire is inaccurate - for example, if an observation about their contact information appears to be in error - the candidate may submit a dispute. Verif_Hire will investigate the dispute by re-running the lookup and, if the original result was in error, will notify the employer and provide a corrected result.
Right to an explanation
If an employer takes adverse action against a candidate based in whole or in part on information obtained through Verif_Hire, the candidate has the right to receive an explanation of what information was flagged and why. We encourage employers to provide this explanation proactively as part of any adverse action process.
Right to be evaluated by a human
Verif_Hire does not make employment decisions. Every observation and result produced by the Service is intended to be reviewed and evaluated by a human decision-maker. Candidates have the right to know that no automated system made the employment decision affecting them.
Submit a Dispute
If you are a candidate and believe information about you was inaccurately reported through Verif_Hire, you may submit a dispute for investigation.
